Facing Identification Mark (FIM ) is a type of postal barcode developed and used in automated mail processing by the United States Postal Service. FIM is a set of vertical bars. The FIM pattern is placed along the top edge of the upper right corner, 2 inches from the right edge of the letter or card, to the left of the stamp or equivalent. FIM is primarily intended for use on branded envelopes and postcards and is used by envelope or postcard companies, not post offices.
