ITF-14Barcodes were developed to encode global trade item numbers. Compared to EAN/UPC barcodes, ITF barcodes have a nominal size of (152*44mm) and have lower printing surface requirements. Therefore, it is possible to print not only on the label, but also directly on the packaging box.

Valid symbols:0123456789
length:fixed, 14 characters
Check digit:One, modulo 10 algorithm

Each barcode character is encoded using 2 wide bars/spaces and 3 narrow bars/spaces. ITF-14 always encodes 14 digits. Each barcode character is encoded in two pairs, with the first character of the pair encoded with the barcode and the second character of the pair encoded with a space. Hence the name of the barcode is "2/5 alternating".

The barcode contains the following data:

 1 digit - logic.

3 digits - global trade prefix.

 6 digits - producer code.

 3 digits - product code.

 1 digit - check digit.

"ITF-14" barcode.
